Dinosaur Facts

Tyrannosaurus rex
    Pronounced: (tuh-RAN-uh-SAWR-us REKS)
"Tyrant Lizard"

This meat eater was about 50 feet long, 20 feet tall, and weighed about 20,000 pounds.  It walked on two legs and had tiny, arm-like front legs.  Its front and back feet had very sharp claws.  Once scientists believed tyrannosaurus was the most fearsome land animal that ever lived.  But in 1992, they found fossils of a smaller but more deadly dinosaur.  Even so, other dinosaurs probably thought Tyrannosaurus was pretty scary!
